PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a call to Lake Fever. This trip is suitable for first-time campers. All levels of fitness encouraged to join, though not recommended for those with mobility issues.

Children should be supervised by their parents at all times, and the tubing portion of this trip is not recommended for children under 10.

PLEASE NOTE:

On occasion, activities may need to be cancelled due to inclement weather. That’s just how things go :(

Directions: Get off at Dundas West Subway station and walk south on Dundas West. In about a block, you’ll see an LCBO and Loblaws grocery store on the east side of the street. Look for the dark blue “Lake Fever” branded van in the parking lot.

Meet At Loblaws Parking Lot (Just south of Dundas West Subway Station) - 2280 Dundas Street West

9:45AM THE BIG APPLE

Rest stop at The Big Apple in Colborne. Get your camera out! This is a very exciting stop with lots of wonderful things to do, and one-of-a-kind snacks and souvenirs to pick up for the trip. Don’t forget to climb the Big Apple!

11:45AM HUFF ESTATES WINERY

Enjoy pizza straight from a wood-burning stone oven, and some wine tasting at Huff Estates Winery in Bloomfield. To complement the beautiful scenery, we’ll stroll through the coinciding outdoor modern art exhibit too.

2:30PM (approx.)

Arrival at Sandbanks Provincial Park, followed by an introduction to the campsite & a tent setup demo.

3:30PM CEDAR SANDS TRAIL

This short educational hike passes over boardwalks lined with fir and cedar trees, and if we’re lucky, you may just spot some swans in the nearby river.

4:30PM FREE TIME

Find your way back to camp, where a delicious vegetarian dinner awaits.

Gather around the campfire to unwind with S’mores and some good company.

DAY 2

A 40 minute group hike along the Woodlands Trail takes us to Dunes beach.

11:00AM FREE TIME / LUNCH

Sit on the beach with a packed lunch, swim, or wander through endless dunes, the choice is yours. Guests also have the option of continuing onto a guided hike of the legendary sand-covered Dunes Trail.

2:15PM BEAT THE HELL HOLE

Embark on an ominous moss-covered trail in Centreville where the group will pass through a valley of giant stone formations dating back to the glacial period. Spot sinkholes, and even cross an impressive natural stone bridge.

Midway through, grab your flashlight and enter the Hell Hole, where you’ll descend 7.5 metres down into the depths of the earth!! Seriously exhilarating.

5:00PM BON ECHO

Arrival at beautiful Bon Echo Provincial Park, where the group immediately sets up camp.

5:45PM COOKING / FREE TIME

Crack open a drink and get cooking with some new friends. The others can enjoy some free time to relax or explore.

At the lagoon, the group pairs off 2 or 3 to a canoe to paddle Mazinaw Lake. We’ll head to a cliff, where ancient native pictographs can be seen lining the walls (a designated national historic site). Guests can also dock at the Clifftop Trail head for a 1 hour hike to the top of the cliff.

Not a paddler? Mazinaw Lake has a great beach and nearby hiking trail!

The van stops at Barry’s Bay for a grocery run. Guests will also have the opportunity to go to the LCBO for alcohol.

Arrival at world famous Algonquin Provincial Park, our home for the next 2 days.

Explore the beach, play some bocce, or chill out at camp, while our 2nd team of cooks start on a gourmet dinner.

The whole crew rents bicycles today to ride the Old Railway Bike Trail. We’ll head down an exciting 16km path that follows a discarded historic railway line (suitable for young children).

3:00PM LOGGING MUSEUM

Everyone loads into the van to go hike the Logging Museum trail. Experience life in Algonquin the way it was back in the day. This short interactive trail is actually so much fun!

This morning we drive off to hike one of the best trails in Algonquin Park. Booth's Rock Trail is a 2 hour 5.1 km loop trail that visits two lakes and a spectacular lookout, returning along an abandoned railway. *It is recommended that those with mobility issues do a shorter version of this hike

As a pre-dinner stretch, the group visits The Marsh Trail, which circles a nearby wetland area.

Throw on some classic roadtrip tunes for your departure from Six Mile Lake Provincial Park.

Lunch (and grocery) stop in Owen Sound. Known as the Scenic City, it's just a quaint, tree-lined seaport town with rich cultural history

3:30PM BRUCE PENINSULA

Arrival at Bruce Peninsula National Park and its 156 sq. km of wilderness.

4:15-6:45PM GROTTO HIKE

Throw on your hiking boots for a trek to the coast, down the Bruce Trail (Canada's oldest and longest marked hiking trail!) At the mid point of this 2.5 hour excursion, we’ll reach the Bruce Peninsula Grotto, a small sea cave with turquoise waters.

This morning we make the short drive to the scenic lakeside town of Tobermory, at the peak of the peninsula.

10:30AM BOAT CRUISE

Here we enter Fathom Five national Marine Park. You'll have something to write home about after a stunning glass-bottom boat cruise. The park has 22 sunken shipwrecks, many shallow enough to view from aboard!

11:20AM FLOWERPOT ISLAND

We dock at the shores of Flowerpot Island, where massive flowerpot-shaped stone towers line the shore. Here, we spend the day on the trails, hiking out to a historic lighthouse.

We return to camp to unwind before our final Lake Fever family dinner.

We’ve saved the best for last, with a one-of-a-kind adventure at Elora Gorge Conservation Area for some white water tubing.
